Healing fast – My experiences and reasons
Hello together! This article here is a bit different to my other ones. Because here I want to share some thoughts and experiences I made with my healing fast (water fast). I did it for the second time this year and now I want to share it 🙂
What’s healing fast and why do people do that?
There are many different types of fasts. And people do that since a long time. Some religions have a “fast time” in their faith and do it at least once in a year. And other people (like me) do it for health or spiritual reasons.
In any case, fasting means changing the eating habits for some days or weeks. Many people make a modified form of fasting called “Juice fasting”. People who do that don’t eat anything for 3 – 7 day but drink a juice three times a day.
What I did is called “healing fast” or “water fast”. It’s the oldest kind of fast that exists and it means that you don’t eat anything for 3 – 5 days. But you can drink water and tea as much as you want.
The reason why I did that is simple:
I wanted to detox my body again. Because permanent eating all day isn’t really healthy. And during my time in Marbella I didn’t really value healthy food. I just ate what I wanted to and many times I “overate” myself. Sometimes we had dinner at about 2 am before we went to bed. And that’s stupid 😛 But it was cool – because it’s not my everyday life. But when I was back in Switzerland I felt tired all the time and my skin didn’t look really good because of my unhealthy eating habit during my vacation. So I decided to detox my body to gain new power and enjoy the peace and quiet. 🙂
Another reason was my willpower. I wanted to show myself that I can. Because most people don’t have enough willpower to do something like that. And for me there’s no different types of willpower. If I proof my willpower into the gym or while fasting or while growing a business – it’s all the same willpower. And the more things I reach with that willpower the stronger it gets.
A little summary of my 5 days
Fasting time is a time where you give your body all the rest he needs. You shouldn’t do much physical work because your body is focused on the really important things. What a great feeling.
Some people do a fast because of spiritual reasons. Because they want to meditate on another level or because they want to feel the quiet in a different way.
It’s all about listening to your body. Taking a rest whenever he needs one.
I love fasting because there are some moments when I was really in peace with the world. This might sound crazy. But it’s true. When none was there and none stressed me, I just sat there with my cup of tea thinking nothing but that the world is okay. I felt so clear and it was just amazing.
In my normal life I never have experienced feelings like that ’cause we’re all the time just busy with doing something or eating because the clock says it. So it’s nice to live in a different way for some days. 🙂
Sooo and now I give you a little overview of my 5 days. Have fun 🙂
Day 1 (Monday)
On Sunday I had my last meal, so on Monday was the first day of my fast.
Even at night from Sunday to Monday I was hungry. But just because my head knew that I won’t eat anything for the next 5 days.
Monday was okay. The whole day long I wasn’t really hungry.
In the evening I felt the first change. I had headache and was very tired because my body started to detox.
So I went to sleep. 🙂
Day 2 (Tuesday)
On the second day I felt the changes more. My headache was gone 🙂 But I was totally exhausted and had to rest every hour. But that wasn’t a problem for me. I just did everything calm.
I mean that’s the purpose of healing fast. 🙂
Day 3 (Wednesday)
Day 3 was hard till 1 pm. After that I had power like I’ve had it a long time ago. I think that’s when my body started to use this situation right. I had a really clear mind and worked till 12 am.
This was an amazing feeling 🙂 And I wasn’t even hungry.
Day 4 (Thursday)
Day 4 started like day 3 ended. I got up at 6.30 am and started working. I had so much energy and was able to use it right. It was amazing to be that clear in mind and to see that just everything works the way I planned it.
At noon I finished my work that I could have done till then. It was time to relax. So I went to the river and lied into the sun to relax. This day was just amazing.
I was really hungry. But it didn’t matter because everything else counted – not that feeling of hunger. 🙂
In the evening I was really happy that it’s Friday the next day because this was the last day of my fast 🙂
Day 5 (Friday)
Day 5 was just a normal day. I didn’t focus on eating or not eating. I just did my work with the thought in my head that this is the last day. 🙂 I was still really clear in mind and it was an amazing feeling.
When I lied into my bed I was so damn proud that I did it again! Because it wasn’t as easy as it sounds. Especially the first 2.5 days were hard. But I knew my “why” and this was motivating me each day. I’m grateful for that experience. <3
Day 6 (Saturday – Fast break)
On Saturday was THE DAY! It was the day of eating again 😀 And you can’t imagine HOW GOOD FOOD TASTES NOW!! 🙂
As I wrote above: I’m really grateful for this experience again and I’m really proud that my willpower was that strong. And now it’s even stronger. I love those challenges. Even more when they also have a great effect on my health 🙂
I think I’ve never drunk so much water and tea! At least 3 liter per day!
And yes: I lost weight. I don’t know how much because I didn’t weigh myself before my fast. I don’t even have a scale at home. But as I know myself I think I lost about 5 – 7 kilos.
The best thing now is that I have a complete different view on food. Because I really appreciate it now! I don’t eat too much just because it’s too delicious. Or I don’t eat when I’m not really hungry.
I learned to listen to my body again and just for that reason it was more than worth it. 🙂
Yeah… I’m really happy that I did this healing fast again. 🙂
If you want to see those “challenges” “live” just follow me on Instagram. There I always share my day into the Instastories 🙂
Have you ever done a fast as well? Or do you want to do one?
LET ME KNOW 😀
